A Dog-Friendly Zion National Park Day

  1. Pa’rus Trail

The Pa’rus trail in Zion is the only dog-friendly trail in the park. This 3.5 mile out and back trail is paved and offers views of The Watchman, Bridge Mountain, and the Virgin River. You can access this trail via the Zion Canyon visitor center.

2. Campgrounds

I walked Max in a loop around Watchman Campground, which was a good opportunity for him to stretch his legs and take a potty break. There are also bathrooms located here, which was convenient for me as well.

3. Overlooks

Since there is only one dog-friendly trail in Zion, the overlooks are the best way to check out the park with your dog. There are plenty of great opportunities to pull over during your drive through Zion to take in the incredible views, snap some cool pictures, and stretch your dog’s legs a bit. Some of the scenic overlooks can only fit as little as 2 cars, but others have much more space. I was able to stop pretty much everywhere I wanted to. Max equally enjoyed the drive through Zion and even got to see a mountain goat crossing the road!
