A Dog-Friendly Day in Vail

  1. Bighorn Park

Bighorn Park is a neighborhood park that allows dogs off leash. There is a small pond to walk around as well as a river flowing along one side of the park. There is also a large grassy area for the dogs to run around in.

2. Downtown Vail

Downtown Vail is great to walk around and do some shopping. The only downside to downtown is there are very little parking options. There are two parking garages and they are both expensive.

3. Lunch at Alpenrose

Alpenrose is located downtown and has a heated, covered patio that allows dogs. However, I was disappointed when I got there and found out how small the patio is. The tables are right on top of each other and there is nowhere for your dog to sit but in the aisle where people and waitresses are walking. The food and atmosphere were amazing, but I wouldn’t recommend lunch here if you have a large dog. Lap dogs and smaller dogs would be more comfortable, but I feel like it was too small of a space for Max.
