- Location, Location, Location!
Everything is at your fingertips in Campton. The cabin is located in Waterville Estates, which has its own small ski mountain. Within 30 minutes is Loon Mountain, Waterville Valley, and Cannon Mountain. Within an hour are Cranmore Mountain and Bretton Woods. While your dog is relaxing in the cozy house, you could be right around the corner skiing at any one of these mountains. If you want to take your dog for a hike, there are so many options it will be hard to choose. You have trails in Waterville Estates itself, trails in the White Mountains, on the Kancamagus Highway, Franconia Notch State Park, and Crawford Notch State Park. If you wanted to hike more locally, you are right next to Mirror Lake and Welch and Dickey Mountains. Whether you are looking for waterfalls, rivers, lakes, or mountains, there is so much closely accessible hiking you won’t know how to choose.

2. Dog- Friendly Restaurants
The White Mountains are super dog-friendly! Some of the places I took Max out to eat with me were Farm Covered Bridge, Dam Brewhouse, Campton Commons, The Common Man, and Surfside Burger Bar. Farm Covered Bridge used to have an ice cream stand outside and offered a doggie sundae. It was closed for summer 2025 and it is unclear what it will reopen as.

3. A Cozy Cabin
You and your dog have access to this entire three-bedroom, two full bathroom cabin. During your stay, you can take a polaroid photo of your dog to add to their “Dog of Campton Cabin” wall. Also provided is a water and food bowl, and dog gates for the deck. The deck is huge and one of Max’s favorite parts about the cabin. He would lay out there for hours sunbathing and watching the nature around him. The dog gates were great because he is a wanderer, and they kept him contained to the deck. He also loved the fire pit at night and would lay by the fire with me until it was time for bed. In the winter, there is a wood burning stove in the living room for him to warm his bones by. He was so comfortable and relaxed here, it was dog heaven!

4. Dog-Friendly Activities
There is so much to do with your dog here! I covered hiking and restaurants, but that’s not all. Nearby in Meredith you can rent a kayak for you and your dog to take out on the lake at EKAL Activity Center. You can also take your dog shopping across the street at Mill Falls Marketplace, where you can treat him to some new toys or treats at 603 Paws. I think Max’s favorite activity though, was a boat rental to cruise Squam Lake. Experience Squam offers a dog-friendly boat excursion of Squam Lake, complete with a drop off at a small island where your dog can run around off leash and swim on the shores. Max had an absolute blast on and off the boat. One of my other favorite dog activities is visiting Dog Mountain, only an hour away from the cabin. Dog Mountain offers hiking trails, a gift shop, a swimming pond, and a church paying tribute to dogs who have “crossed the rainbow bridge.” It is absolutely a must-see if you have a friendly dog who loves meeting other off leash friendly dogs. Yet another dog-friendly activity close to the cabin is the Loon Mountain gondola ride in the summertime! Max had so much fun riding the gondola up to the summit and taking the birds-eye views of the mountain. There is even a cafe at the top and lots of places you could have a picnic.

5. Access to Waterville Estates Community Center
The Community Center at Waterville Estates offers a gym, sauna, indoor and outdoor pools/hot tubs, a pond with a beach, walking trails through the woods, tennis courts, basketball courts, a bar and restaurant and so much more. And you have access to all of this! Max absolutely loved hiking the “village loop” trail by the pond, followed by a swim in the pond to cool off. Then, while he napped after his walk/swim I would go read my book at the Adults Only pool and hot tub.
