The Coolest Dog-Friendly AirBnBs We’ve Stayed In

  1. Treehouse in Smyrna, Georgia

Just outside of Atlanta, Georgia is TreeHausATL. This treehouse is situated in the back of a residential neighborhood, but you would never know it as it is surrounded by trees. The treehouse comes complete with a large viewing deck, an outdoor firepit, and fun bridges to get to the house. Your dog will love being emersed in nature and watching the squirrels from the back deck.

2. Lambert’s Winery in Weston, West Virgina

Lambert’s Winery “Hang-over” Treehouse is a fun airbnb located on the property of the winery. The treehouse has swings, a cool spiral staircase made of tree branches, and a back deck that overlooks the fields. From the deck, Max was able to watch all the deer come out to play at sundown. The grounds are beautiful to walk around and explore. You can also bring your dog with you for a wine tasting!

3. Train car in Honesdale, Pennsylvania

This tiny train home is located at the top of a hill, offering beautiful views of the surrounding fields and a farm across the street. Both the sunset and sunrises from the property are beautiful to take in. This train car has a large deck for relaxing, as well as mowed “trails” through the fields. One trail takes you down to a serene little pond. Max had so much fun exploring this property and chasing the bunnies.

4. Misfit Mountain Animal Rescue in Clyde, North Carolina

This was a really unique airbnb stay, where Max and I stayed in a tiny home located on an animal rescue’s property. You can take a polaroid picture of your dog and add it to the wall collection! One of the best parts about staying at the rescue is you can volunteer to take one of the rescue dogs out for a walk or hike. I took an adorable hound out for a morning walk and then took him to Starbucks for a pup cup!

5. Horse barn in Waynesville, North Carolina

“The Loft” is a really cool airbnb experience where you can stay in an apartment that is located above a horse barn. There are lots of windows looking into the barn so that you can see the horses from the apartment. Some of these windows are low to the ground, so Max was able to watch the horses too. This airbnb is very charming and quiet. Max loved greeting the horses in their stalls and watching them graze in the pasture.

6. Little Tail Farms in Dunlap, Tennessee

Highland Cottage is a tiny home located on a hobby farm called Little Tail Farms. Here, you can wake up to goats, donkeys, and cows just outside the window in the surrounding pastures. They also offer a tour of the farm. I got to meet goats, puppies, cows, and more! There is a fire pit just outside the tiny home with great star viewing at night. Max loved watching the animals from the large living room window and walking by the cows.

7. Lucky Dog Ranch in Kalispell, Montana

This is another apartment located above a horse barn! This airbnb provides a fire pit, a hammock, a large yard, and views of the horses in the surrounding pastures. The stars here were breathtaking. We stayed for a week and did some local hiking and lots of relaxing at the barn. Max had so much fun returning to the horse in the pasture every evening and greeting her every morning.

8. Hut in Hermosa, South Dakota

Glamp in comfort at this cool airbnb. Be prepared to be off the grid as there is no wifi and a shower house. The location is conveniently close to Mount Rushmore, Badlands National Park, and Custer State Park. You have your own private fire pit and string lights. There are other glamping experiences on the property and plenty of space to walk your dog around to explore.

9. Country Cottage in Saint Ignatius, Montana

Mission Mountain Country Cottage and Sauna is a dog-friendly airbnb that is located in the midst of farms. Max got to see plenty of cows, horses, and deer during our stay here. The studio apartment is small, but cozy and comes with a sauna and outdoor firepit. The only thing I didn’t like about this airbnb is the host is strict about pet hair/fur and charges a fee for “excessive dog hair” in the cottage. As an owner of a husky in the dead of a hot summer, it is tough to control shedding, and I don’t think this should be an extra charge if the place is truly dog-friendly.

10. Yurt in Superior, Montana

This yurt in Superior is surrounded by pastures. Max and I had a really cool experience here where one of the local cows escaped and came right into the yard to greet us. This was the closest encounter Max has had with a cow and he was so excited and curious to watch him walk around the property and graze on the grass.

11. Treehouse in Tok, Alaska

Ptarmigan Treehouse is an airbnb located 14 feet up and surrounded by trees. There is a wrap around deck where Max liked to lay out and keep an eye on the squirrels. Below the deck is a hanging swing and surrounding the property is a dirt road perfect for a long walk with your dog. This was a perfect stay on our way to Alaska and I wish we stayed longer because it was so peaceful and cozy. Word on the street is if you time it right you can also view the northern lights from this treehouse!

12. Earthhouse in Magna Bay, B.C. Canada

Honey Hollow is an earth home located in Magna Bay in British Columbia, Canada. This was my favorite airbnb stay as it felt like an experience, not just an overnight stay. It is private and peaceful. We got the best night sleep with the window open to the sounds of the surrounding forest and a big comfortable bed. There is a soaking tub in the bathroom and a firepit outside. It is very close to Shuswap Lake and many hiking trails. I highly recommend this airbnb stay if you love magic and The Hobbit or Lord of the Rings. You are transported into another world at Shuswap Shire! Max thought it was so cool.

13. Magnolia Cabin in Sedro-Woolley, Washington

Magnolia Cabin is located on the property of a retreat called Fox Creek Falls Retreat. The cabin sits on 80 acres of forest and has ponds, a chicken coop, a vegetable garden, two hiking trails, and creeks and waterfalls. Max had the time of his life here exploring the property and playing with one of the dogs that lives there permanently, Penelope. The airbnb is a top floor apartment complete with a front and back deck and a large jacuzzi soaking tub in the bathroom. It is 40 minutes from North Cascades National Park and close to lots of fishing and hiking opportunities. I think Max wanted to move in permanently!
