Four Paws Kingdom Campground

Four Paws is a dog-friendly campground and dog retreat in Rutherfordton, North Carolina. Located just outside the Blue Ridge Mountains, there is plenty of hiking surrounding the campground, but if your intention is just some rest and relaxation for you and your dog you’ve come to the right place. Max and I stayed two nights in one of the cabins at the campground. You also have the option of renting one of their RVs or bringing your own. The cabin was absolutely beautiful and provided everything we could need for our stay, except for linens, firewood, and ice: those you have to bring with you! We checked in at the office and a lovely woman on a golf cart escorted us to our cabin, called Forrest. Max was so excited to be there. He sat in front of the door, wagging his tail and waiting for me to open the door. Every campsite at Four Paws has a fenced in yard space with a firepit for you and your dog to enjoy.

On site, you and your dog can enjoy a hiking trail, a designated fenced area for ball play, a fenced dog park including a pond for swimming, and an agility park. Four Paws has thought of everything! They even have a dog grooming station. The office gift shop looks like it sells really cute dog souvenirs, but we did not have time to check it out. I stayed during the weekday, but it looks like the weekend offers even more fun for your pooch! There are often live bands, movie nights, and food trucks, as well as a dog menu! Max had so much fun at Four Paws that I swear he wanted to move in. He loved the views of the trees out the cabin windows, relaxing by the fire, and running around with new friends at the dog park. It was quite warm out when we were there, so having the pond at the dog park where he can swim and cool off was so helpful! I can’t wait to come back, especially on a weekend.
