There is a $25 entry fee for Monument Valley Park. My original plan was to hike Wildcat Trail loop with Max, but the trail was closed when we got there. This trail is dog-friendly, and the trailhead is located right next to the entrance to the scenic drive. Instead, I opted to hike the Lee Cly trail, which was the only trail open at the time of our visit in March. The trailhead for Lee Cly trail is not very obvious. It is tucked away behind the hotel parking lot. This is a 2.7 mile loop with some really great views since you are higher up and can look down on the valley. I also recommend the 17 mile scenic drive. The road is unpaved and can be a bit rough and bumpy in spots, but is doable if you take your time and go slow. We parked at an overlook spot where there were also vendors selling handmade jewelry. I got some great pictures here and Max was able to get out of the car and stretch his legs.
