4 Dog-Friendly Hikes in Tumbler Ridge

  1. Quality Falls

Quality Falls is a 1.3 mile out and back trail to a waterfall. The majority of the trail is flat until you get closer to the falls where there is a steep climb down to see the falls, then another steep climb down to see the base of the falls. I recommend going down to the bottom of the falls. It’s in a really cool little gorge and you can go right up to the waterfall. Max and I did see a coyote on this trail that followed us at a distance for a bit. Thankfully we ended up linking up with other people on the trail just incase.

2. Boulder Gardens

Boulder Gardens is a 2.1 mile loop. This trail can be easy to lose in places. There is some rock scrambling but nothing crazy. There is a small pond that Max enjoyed and some great aerial views, as well as some cool rock formations.

3. Flatbed Falls

Flatbed Falls is a 0.8 mile out and back trail that takes you down some switchbacks to a waterfall and river. The route back is all uphill. The trail also connects to the Dinosaur Tracks trail if you wanted a longer hike. There is one bridge crossing and the bridge has collapsed but is still easily crossable. We did this trail as quick walk and leg stretch before getting on the road for a long drive.

4. Barbour Falls

Barbour Falls is a 1.1 mile out and back trail. There is a long drive down a dirt road that left my car muddy and dirty after recent rainfall. The trail crosses a road and then heads to a scenic view of Barbour Falls. There is an option to get closer to the base of the falls using ropes to climb down. It was tricky doing this with my dog on a leash but we did manage to get a little closer to the falls for a better view.
