- Amicalola Falls State Park
This state park lies within the Chattahoochee National Forest. It’s main feature is Amicalola Falls, which is a 729 foot waterfall. There is a $5 entry fee to the park. Of note, one of the trails to Amicalola Waterfall includes 175 grated stairs, which may not be suitable for your dog.

2. Vogel State Park
Vogel State Park is the second oldest park in Georgia. Also located in the Chattahoochee National Forest, the park’s 22 acre lake, Lake Trahlyta, has a beach and allows non-motorized boats. The views from the trail around the lake with the mountains rising up in the background are gorgeous. Just off the lake trail is access to Trahlyta Falls. Max enjoyed taking a dip in the lake on the way to and from the falls.
